Feature Article first draft

Feature Article First Draft:

All good dreamers and believers have an icon, I simply had to ask Brett who gave him the inspiration and desire to reach the top of the rock and pop ladder.

‘… I have always been interested in the rock/ pop genre, when I was younger I listened to and was inspired by many different singers such as: Mick Jagger, Noel Gallagher, Bono and of course my main idol Liam Gallagher. I used to spend hours studying and learning as much about these types of characters as I could…’

Becoming so famous so quickly has meant Brett has come from being a supermarket store worker and trying to make ends meet to a overnight success with all the money he could ever want and need, this has meant he has had to deal with all the pressures of being a new star in the public’s eyes. I questioned him on this and how he feels he has dealt with it all.

‘… At first I was surprised at how famous I become in such a short space of time because one minute I was stacking shelves in Tesco and singing in the street for fun, and the next minute this ordinary guy from London is performing at Wembley and his songs which were being performed on the street are now in the top 10…’

Brett Moore have just released his second album and is causing controversy in the music field because many other artists who have spent many years trying to get to the top have had to stop in their tracks because of the sudden rise of Brett Moore.

‘… I have a simple dream. That’s to reach the top and stay at the top for as long as possible. The name Brett Moore will be remembered I couldn’t care less whether it’s the right or wrong way I will be remembered and will create headlines through music…’

As I look around I see that Brett is very keen on collecting and using props while on stage, as a keen collector myself I had to ask him about them, why do you collect them and what’s the prop with the  most sentimental value?

‘…Every rock and roll singer has a cupboard full of props to use on stage, I just feel they make me who I am today so I like to have them on display so people like you can see me for who I really am. The prop with the most sentimental value is very hard to stay, but if I did have to choose one its either my shades or my tambourine because when I wear them they make me feel like I have actually become a rock and roll star and without them I feel like the same old Brett Moore…’

Every solo artist wants to be heard of instantly and in Brett’s case he was, but this isn’t always the case for upcoming artists. Have you any words of inspiration to the younger generations trying to make their way to the top?

‘… Yes I have many words for them however some may not be worthy of printing, however what I will say is keep on going and believing and when you do reach the top like me you will soon release that other than the mansion, women always chasing after you and owning millions of pounds it’s not that good, I’m no more happier than what I was 5 years ago in my od life…’

The rumour is that all solo music artists are very individual people and as result can become very lonely as they are always performing on their own but as I look at Brett he doesn’t strike me as the lonely type.

…’ that rumour is a load of rubbish, I only like to perform on my own because no one else is as good as me and if they were on stage with me then my individual performance would be looked down upon because of them ruining it. Other than when I’m performing I am a very sociable person. The friends I class as being the closest to me are the ones I trust the most these are the people I grew up with. Many people who know about the rock/pop genre may have heard of them. Stuart Wilson and Brandon Dube have always been by my side and so I feel without these guys then yes I would be lonely…’

Over the years I have met many different types of characters no more noticeable than Liam Gallagher, have you ever been compared to him because I would say your characteristics are very much like him.

…’ yes many have made the comparison between me and the great that is Liam Gallagher and to be honest I can’t blame them. We are both very iconic figures for music, we both share the same passion for good music and if we feel something is bad were not afraid to say that un like some particular artists around. The only difference is he has been around for many years now whereas I’m just the new kid on the block and if I was able to last as long as he has I would be very honoured and would have to be very successful…’

We have both now progressed on through the house and into one the games room and to my delight we are now playing pool, when I heard the radio being played and it was Capital FM I was shocked, (this is not a station a rock star is expected to be listening to) but just as I am about to say something Brett starts belting out all the words to Nicki Minaj’s new rap hit ‘Anaconda’ this shows just what a character Brett is, when questioned on it he didn’t seem to understand the problem.

…’ I can’t see what is so unusual about It, I love to be able to hear new ways of performing music it helps me develop

my performances and I feel that any singer should have a range of voices which they can call upon when needed. I suppose this makes me the type of person that I am, I can’t help that…’

At Brett’s last gig he was caught drinking alcohol back stage and by the time the performance of the last song came he was completely paralytic. This just shows the huge difference between the good and ugly side of Brett.

…’ it was a genuine mistake, I didn’t mean to drink as much as what I ended up doing and when I had the last drop I genuinely thought the performance was over and I put the bottle down and the stage called me for the last song, I said to myself ‘oh no what I have I done’. This shows anyone can make mistakes if you aren’t the ball twenty four seven…’

It’s well documented that your idol Liam Gallagher is a football fanatic, and has stated that how they are performing has influenced his music have you ever felt this to be the case for you?

…’ yeah I know he loves his football; Manchester City is his team isn’t it? I defiantly feel that when my team QPR start too loose my music is certainly a lot more depressing and more down beat compared to how fast and upbeat it is when we win this can be a good thing as it produces a variety of performances and a element of surprise to each song and each performance, however if your team is as bad as QPR then I can go a long time without producing a upbeat song…’

Lastly when I arrived I saw that you have a younger brother, is there any chance of him making it into the music scene at any time soon? Is rock/pop in the Moore’s blood

…’well he certainly has the looks and the voice like mine so I certainly don’t see a reason to why not, he would be stupid to miss out on a wonderful life like this and my mum and dad are both involved in the music scene, if they give him the encouragement, time and money that they gave me then he certainly will be in with a good chance of making it.

I have heard your two closest friends are recently rising up through the music industry, as I see around your house with all the pictures of you with them you must been really close with them.

‘…well yeah I suppose I have to be, I have spent most of my life with them I went to school with them, I spent most of my holidays with them, I went to football with them they basically are my life and I think I wouldn’t have got were I am today without them…’

This sense of emotion is really not the impression we get from the outside and I can clearly see you have a sensitive side, have you ever been writing music in a sensitive mood and as a result has it  ever been influenced by it meaning it’s a more emotional song compared to your common and well known music.

…’ I would have to say yes because I feel that my most recent song Wonderwall was influenced by my emotion as I was in a dark place when this song was in the process of being written and I feel the final piece was alot more emotional compared to my older pieces...’

After the release of Brett’s new album, tour dates have just been released this is supposedly going to be one of the biggest tours of his career with dates being announced in venues around the world?

‘…yes it’s going to be very excited I am really looking forward to it and so should my fans be as the most amount of money available to my organises  has been spent on this tour no costs have been cut and this will  provide the best music experience of all my fans lives…’

After spending only a couple of hours with Brett I can instantly see the huge amounts of self confidence and gigantic personality he has but I just hope he lives his life sensibly because there have been many cases were huge promising careers have been cut short all due to the fact that their ego’s have over taken their music in their list of priorities and this would be a huge shame for everyone such as: the rock/pop music industry and for individual singers themselves.
